Hair loss is the mark of beauty individuals whose lives have been touched by cancer are most familiar with, but few think about that loss beyond what men and women miss from the top of their heads. Cancer patients also lose their eyebrows and eyelashes and chemotherapy can cause other negative skin reactions such as rashes, dryness, acne, redness, and hyperigmentation — unfortunate physical markers of the battle going on inside one’s body.

But Sephora has come up with a way to help men and women cope. As part of its Classes for Confidence series, the makeup retailer will host Brave Beauty in the Face of Cancer classes allowing those undergoing chemo to learn various beauty tips related to their cancer treatment concerns.

What makes this series even more special is classes will be taught using curriculum developed in part by Sephora employees who are also living with cancer,” Glamour reports. The 90-minute classes will cover “skin care tips, step-by-step instructions for upping radiance, creating natural-looking brows, and tricks for defining your eyes.”

The goal, Corrie Conrad, senior director of social impact and sustainability for Sephora, told Glamour, is “to create a safe place for participants to learn and play with beauty, ask questions, and connect with others going through a similar situation.”

Classes will begin April 9 in select stores. For a listing of locations, click here.
