Last year, Lauryn Hill told y’all that she cannot get her energies to align in order to be on time for her concerts.

“I don’t show up late to shows because I don’t care. The challenge is aligning my energy with the time, taking something that isn’t easily classified or contained, and trying to make it available for others. I don’t have an on/off switch. I am at my best when I am open, rested, sensitive, and liberated to express myself as truthfully as possible.”

This was the explanation she gave, but I get the sense that she really doesn’t want to perform any more. There’s a good chance that her energies will never align because her heart is not in performing those songs anymore. Still, people aren’t exactly reading between the lines. And whenever Lauryn has a concert, she always sells out, with loyal fans anxious to see her. This is what happened last night when Lauryn was set to appear in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. And in what must have been almost a record for her, Hill showed up over three hours late. To put that in perspective, the concert was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. and at 11 p.m., Hill still hadn’t shown up. She made her way to the stage at 11:20 p.m. The show ran until 1 a.m. and the fans who did stay say she put on a good show.
Still, social media is not exactly forgiving. And it wasn’t long before Hill became a trending topic. One that is still at the top of the list today.
